National Bleeding Disorder Awareness Month

Cervical, ovarian, or uterine cancer can all cause heavy bleeding, but these conditions are not common. Benign, or noncancerous, tumors in the uterus can cause heavy bleeding or long periods. Benign growths in the uterine lining (endometrium) can cause a heavy or prolonged period.
This dryness causes crusting inside the nose. If your nose is scratched or picked, it can bleed. Taking antihistamines and decongestants for allergies, colds, or sinus problems can also dry out the nasal membranes and cause nosebleeds. Frequent nose blowing is another cause of nosebleeds.
Bruising (ecchymosis) happens when small blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin break. This causes bleeding within skin tissues. This is especially true in women as the capillary walls become more fragile and the skin becomes thin. The occasional bruise typically doesn't cause much medical concern.
